Parallel Mount -- Part 2 -- The test

Graham

Recommended Posts

I decided to give the mount a pretty stern test today so I loaded it up with my beloved Helios 5 inch Frac.

As you can see from the pics it coped without any dramatics what so ever.

I could adjust the position up down sideways without effort.

What ever position I put it in it just stayed there.

Bit of shake after moving it but this soon dies away.

I have now fitted it with a machined base that fits my EQ5 Tripod.

Starting Point.

Had to take a photo through it.

This is the weather vane on a  Church Steeple in the center of Ipswich a couple of miles away.

I just put the camera on my phone up to the Eye Piece.

I can see that you adjust tension on the parallelogram using wing nuts.

Is there any tension adjustment on the scope movements?

Any chance of a close up photo of the 360 degree bracket mechanisms please Graham?

Hi Pete.

The wing nuts are only a temp arrangement until my Aluminium bar arrives then I will make some proper hand grip nuts.

The Scope was also a temp arrangement and is just bolted through but will again have a proper grip nut on it.

I will also be placing a spring under the grip nut to keep a constant tension on the scope/binos.

I will post close ups when it is finished.

thanks

Graham

Thanks for that Graham.

So it will look even neater than it does now when you get the hand grip nuts :) I forgot, but you did mentioned about sourcing them in a previous thread.

Cheers.
