I keep threatening to photograph birds (the FEATHERED kind) but haven't got round to it yet. I'm doing quite a few flower shots (mostly from our garden). Since I started taking astronomical photos, I've got interested in general photography, too.

  • 2 weeks later...

I always feel sorry for parent bird's this time of year - its all go when chicks hatch - poor old Blackbird (dad mainly :D ) in my back garden is back and fro with food to its full grown chick - If I didn't know better I would say it was a cuckoo but I haven't heard and seen one round here for years and we had plenty years ago-  :(

Hopefully yours will be able to "put the wings up and rest" soon.

Its us you should feel sorry for Clive.

These birds run around like mad for a couple of months

My son is in his twenties and I am still running around for him

Mine aren't that bad except for my Daughter who likes borrowing money  but then renting a flat in center of Nottingham isn't cheap especially with no partner and trying to pay off her Uni overdraft. Having said that I don't buy £300 handbags  :D

What did you put in the bird box Sheila to encourage them to nest in there?

We just put one up this week but I was assuming they'd bring their own nesting materials so it's empty at the moment......

absolutely nothing at all.... new ones (boxes) usually have to be up for a year before you get anything.  all the new smells disappear.

If you put anything in they will take it out and chuck it.  they get all their own stuff :)
