advice on Canon 1100d colour space settings

i`ve been playing with the Canon 1100d settings manually while away over the weekend and noticed that the colour space was set at sRGB setting which has a narrower colour gamut than adobe RGB which is another setting you can use, so have now changed it to adobe RGB for a wider colour gamut, would this have any affect on the raw images taken with the camera i.e. better overall colour response than the images i`ve taken before which to me seem to lack a certain amount of colour detail.

although if you use adobe rgb to capture you have a bigger colour space to help with processing as it`ll allow for the fainter whifs of colour to come through and then reduce the space to srgb for internet
