Poss new Supernova in Cygnus

stash

Recommended Posts

I am ok I just blow hard and the Fog and Mist disappear.  Had a lot of traffic (air) round today - inc Rivet taking off from cranwell plus a number of Red arrow singletons.. Aldo quite a few Typhoons right above - not normally over me for landing at Cons - guess wind direction.

Plus had a puppy the same as your's running round garden and licking my face - Wife all cooing about it  - "No your not having one" unless I can have my 16 inch L/bridge

Yes the weather is ****   :(

This guy must have clear and dark skies - but he is in North Canada.

If this turns out to be true then it's a very important discovery as Cygnus is one of the closest Milky Way regions to our solar system, in fact this supernova could be inside our milky Way or at least inside the Cygnus Rift.

could be a great find,

i thought i had found one when looking through my Veil subs the other night, until i noticed a smaller light blob a little further back and realised it was the light from a planes wing, usually they appear as a line across the image but these where two blobs of light.

Hmmm, cant find any mention of it on all the normal astro channels?

If that is the case and he has found it, none of the "experts" have yet - good on him.

The bright star at the top of the image is mag 8.7 according to Stellarium, and the SN looks as bright or slightly brighter, so it is probably about mag 8 in this image.

Looking forward to seeing some confirmation of this find, and it would be even more exciting if it carried on brightening.

The latest reports from Cloudy Nights say nothing there :(

More images have now been taken but no SN. Could have been a satellite reflection.
