Requirements for power at a campsite

I was just curious if anyone could explain what I would need for example to plug in to a campsite socket to power just one item, my SLR to do timelapses for example. I already have a mains power for the camera.

Just trying to decide what to do other than observe and socialse and wanted to know the basic requirements to do that, bearing in mind it has to fit on my bike and I have a small tent.

Interesting, thanks Daz, I'm sure when we use similar things to that as extensions caravanning we just wrap it in a plastic bag to prevent moisture, I could even hook up the laptop then with that many sockets

It's not that  expensive when the RCD (earth leakage trip, this cuts the power before you get a lethal shock) is around a tenner, the MCB (resettable fuse.) around a fiver, the plug say a fiver, the cable anywhere up to a tenner as copper is pricey at the moment, plus the case and sockets. so all in all it's not too bad.

Rob, yes the site might have RCD's, and it will have an MCB that protects either individual sockets or just the entire box. They should have them tested annually, this is to ensure they work in the specified time, most are thirty milliseconds, is it worth the risk?

Cheers for that link Ron, I think i'll get one ordered but unlikely get it in time for Kelling/won't use it, plenty of time to prep what I can use for EMS though

Cheers Paul, seems they are open til 8pm so might pop in after work and do a reserve a collect so I can quickly pick one up but i'm still undecided exactly what i'm going to do with it, need to double check all my kit and that I have what I think I have.

They sell them at Kelling if you are desperate :)

Not desperate yet Graham :D

Off topic but also just spotted this http://www.vango.co.uk/gb/2-person-tent/15-stelvio-200.html :D in the description "perfect for trips with the bike and kit intensive weekends under the stars." - sounds perfect
