When downloading RAWs and jpegs from a Canon DSLR is there any way of separating them so that they get downloaded into two  different folders on my laptop?

I am assuming the "connection" lets you see the files from your laptop as a std folder view.

1. Sort files into "type" order by clicking on the "type" column (you may need to change the folder view first to "detail" by using the "more options" on the menu line).

2.Then  select the files you want to move by selecting the first file,of the group, with a single click of the right hand mouse button.

3.Then holding the "shift" key down click the last item of the group - this will then show all the files selected.

4.Use the "drag and drop" menu to transfer the files to your selected folder - suggest you open ,in different windows, the destination folders and maybe use "copy" until you have got used to transferring files using this method if this is "new" to you.

If you know windows scripting (assuming Windows Op system) you could write a script to do the above.

Hope that helps.

OR if you are happy using the "command line"

copy c:\folderx\*.raw c:\users\richard\rawdata\

replacing the c:\folderx with the source drive / folder   , the c:\users\richard\rawdata with the destination folder you require and the "raw" with the appropriate file extension
