Jupiter GRS transit tables give different times

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

I'm looking forward to observing Jupiter and have been looking at the GRS transit times.

Trouble is, the 2 sites give different times. Example below.

Sky and Telescope.

November

1: 1:14, 11:09, 21:05;

2: 7:01, 16:56;

3: 2:52, 12:48, 22:44;

Project Jupiter.

1 Nov 10:34

1 Nov 20:29

2 Nov 6:25

2 Nov 16:21

3 Nov 2:16

3 Nov 12:12

3 Nov 22:08

Has anyone got any idea why they're different (both UT) or which is right?

Thanks Absterrio. They seem to agree with the Project Pluto (sorry, it should read "Project Pluto" in my original post) list.

Have you put any of these times to the test with an observation. I guess that's going to be the acid test.

Hi folks. Just to give an update. I now use "Cartes Du Ciel" to keep track of Jupiter's goings-on.

Have a look at "stellarium updating jupiter" on this forum.
