Still messing with the nifty 50 on the dsr, I don't have the stamina for protracted lengthy imaging runs or hours of processing these days so this set up is scratching the itch so to speak

I was inspired by a post on SGL, someone took a snap of this area using the nifty fifty lens on their Canon DSLR and I had to give it a go the other night.

Taken with the modded 1000d fitted with 50mm F1.8 lens set at f3.2, piggy backed on my main scope in the observatory. IDAC lpr filter bodged into lens hood. No calibration. 1 hours worth of 2 minute 800iso subs. Stacked etc in I+ and messed with in PS

Theres tons wrong with this shot, coma, colour, focus slightly off and could do with being set at f4 to sharpen the stars up a bit but I like it because it shows these objects in relation to each other in our sky.

When one is taking close up shots of individual items through a scope its all too easy to forget where they are in relation to each other. The goto sorts out the finding and its all too easy to forget that just a couple of degrees away is a vast complex emission nebula.
