Hi all I am trying to find a "In very good condition" used Evo 80 OTA or Outfit

If I can not get a good used one then which supplier do you recommend getting a new one from? I may well get the reducer as well

Thx

Good luck with your search, it's not often you see them come up second hand as they are very popular with the imagers.

For brand new, you are also going to struggle, FLO do them but are currently out of stock, I have seen some on Amazon from retailers I have never heard of (I wouldn't buy from them) and I believe telescope house may sell them but FLO are the cheapest.

Edit:I would just like to add that I would never buy astro kit from a none astro retailer, I just gave Amazon as another source where you may get them from, I'm not saying it's ok to get from them, also, looking at the prices of these market place dealers, they are OTT if you ask me.

Having dealt with FLO a few times and on two occasions had very poor service when buying that exact scope with the same excuse being used both times I would say avoid them. Telescope house have them in stock, will dispatch fast and will also price match I believe. I now use them for everything I can both at work and for myself.

Yeh Thx Darren you have said pretty much what I am beginning to realize myself now having trawled the web for the last 2 weeks looking.

You know when somethings good when you cant get it second hand!

I did contemplate getting it from Amazon as I use them a lot but like you say sometimes its not from a shop I have heard of or used before so am reluctant to do so however there is one for sale by Amazon themselves so that might be an option, but for the sake of 10-20 quid I agree with you best to use an astro dealer trouble is we don't have any in Lincoln

FLO do say its in stock on their web site ! and they have 3 !

If that's the case with FLO I would phone them up and ask. Just because their website says they have them, doesn't mean they have. I have used FLO lots of times but only had trouble with 1 item.

Good luck.

I ordered an ED80 for myself, showing in stock and took 3 weeks and was drop shipped when I prompted them. I ordered another for work last year, same issue, 2 weeks and drop shipped once I started to make a noise. Both times they claimed they were waiting for packaging the right size, both times they were drop shipped direct from OVL the importer. And don't get me started on the 4 month wait for the moonlite focuser that then arrived the wrong colour.

are you lookibg for and imaging scope or more of a visual one ? here is another excellent scope for the price that pop up on the second hand market every now and again, http://www.firstlightoptics.com/equinox/skywatcher-equinox-80-apo-pro-ota.html for imaging this is faster and second hand a real bargain.

Hi Rob thx for the input

Its for imaging and yes I have looked at the equinox but for the money the Evo is better add a reducer to the Evo along with the diagonal and 32mm lens to me it wins hands down, yes the equinox is a better build but its the glass that is important and they both have the same, the fact that the equinox is faster is evened out somewhat by fitting the reducer to the Evo.

There is an Equinox on ebay now for £449 and I did come close but I need the other bits and that just sends the costs up.

believe me when i say I have made my mind up 20 times + and each time its different lol

what to do? what to do?

Must admit I've always found flo fairly good, but there are some other very good retailers I've used also over the last few years, maybe I've been lucky but I don't think I've ever had a problem, not one that hasn't been sorted a.s.a.p
