More mods for the dob.

So for a while I have been getting tired of my power cables either getting caught in the dob base or me catching them and pulling them out, so a further modification was required.

So thanks to Steve (Ibbo) for the use his lathe and metal drilling skills and Martyn for the use of his man shed and wiring skills I have now modded the dob base some more.

So first off I needed a bigger bolt so a hole could be drilled through the centre of it....

Next the top board and base board of the dob had to be drilled in order to accept the bigger bolt.

Next, another hole had to be drilled in the dob to allow a cable to run through it leading from the battery to the 2 power sockets....

The cable was then run through the hole prior to re-attaching back to the power socket.

This now enabled the power cable to run through the bolt holding the top board and base board together....

And was then attached properly...

Next, the power socket was then attached to the dob base....

The power cable to my Kendrick dew controller was then shortened and attached permanently to the dob base and into one of the power sockets.

Now that the power cable was able to run through the dob base, I also needed the power cable to run through the table my dob sits on, so I set about drilling a hole in the centre of the table...

Now because the table is only a £4.99 job from IKEA, the inside has that cardboard inners, which I thought would get soggy when exposed to dew at a dark site, so I set about sealing it with some tape....

Now that was complete, I was able to run the power cable through the table and through the dob base....

Now that the power has all been sorted and a lot neater I can now fit the fan to the rear of my OTA.....
