My Set up without an obsy

Allan the Plumber

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this is right thread but over the many months i've been with EMS i've enjoyed watching the progress of obsy builds and garden set ups

With this in mind and the talk recently about active USB cables against length with certain bits of kit, I thought I'd like to show my set up as of March 2015

I have my scope and mount placed on my decking about 10 metres from warm room (summerhouse)

All this runs to the summerhouse where the laptop heater and sustenance for long evenings is kept

That's not just for me we do use the Summerhouse for entertaining i'm not sat in there slowly getting drunk each clear night    :D

Hope okay to show my set up

Assuming your scope is polar aligned in the pics, you have a convenient south west facing garden outlook.

Looks great Allan.

I like your summerhouse.

I find my own decking a problem when observing, getting lots of vibrations, so i tend to stick to the grass.

....and if the laptop /software ever drive you to drink........... :frantic:

Might take you up on that sometime thanks Allan. :)

Your summerhouse really does look inviting, and very nicely fitted out.

I used to have a 3 metre domed obsy and a useful storage shed in my backyard, but after several extensions to the house encroaching into garden space, I now have to manage with a lawn and patios.

Nice, so much like my own setup, I will knock some pics up next time its outside setup.

How long do you leave the scope under cover? is that just for the nights you use it or does it stay there all year round?

Would you mind telling where your summerhouse is from Allan ?

We are in the market for one in the next year or two.

Just need to convince 'others' the trampoline has had its day.

A company i'm looking at is Tunstall : think there are near Stoke-on-Trent.

Thanks  :)

Comes in kit form you can pay to have it built or do it yourself, I've fitted both insulation in ceiling and floor plus bifold doors and windows are all double glazed great in summer having folks over have the doors open, music, drink  good food and good company  :D

OMG Allan I thought so

I have 2 from Dunster House you will not get a better shed / cabin for the money

Both of mine are 5x3m one I had to give to the wife which meant I needed to get a second one for me  ;)

Great set up Allan. Thinking of doing something similar with my shed. Just got to clear all the rubbish out of it first.

The mini bar is a nice touch :)

Marvellous control room there Allan. Would love to have something, anything, to keep me a bit warm during long sessions. Your set up has given me some extra ideas about just an ordinary shed which could be insulated or have a heater inside and have the mount outside. Derek

Sounds good Derek :)

Ive now gone one further and via teamviewer can monitor the laptop and subs focus etc from the house let the laptop do the grunt work and use the note book to keep an eye and make adjustments as needed   B)

Whilst you watch TV, read, drink wine - with your feet up in front of the fire ;) I must learn a few tips on how to make these tools work for me and make the hobby more enjoyable, and productive. So many different ideas. Ive heard of team viewer - a colleague showed me he was viewing his main office desk pc from another pc in the lab we work in.
