That definitely looks the business :)

Surprised Losmandy didn't price it even higher.

The optional digital setting circles would be a nice addition.

Further info here................(if you fancy ploughing through a 10 page thread over on the Cloudy nights forum)

I think this mount is due for imminent release in the US.

Not sure about UK release dates as yet. I think Orion Optics & Widescreen Centre are the main UK stockists ? I may be wrong ?

But if anyones in the market for a grab / go alt-az for a small / medium scope i think this AZ8 looks very interesting.

Heres the CN link :

Do you think it would handle a C925?  Has anyone heard anything about this mount.  I also had a question as to whether there is any need for Go To function if you're only doing planetary and lunar observing?

Hello Paul.

I do have one, had to wait a while for it to be delivered. The mount is extremely well made and is a delight to use. If balanced correctly you will find no real need to use the clutches, but they work wonders and it glides very smoothly. The slow motion controls work really well in Azimuth but they do slightly judder in Altitude but once again this is a balance issue, sort the balance out and do not have the clutches tight then the judder stops.

I have a Esprit 120ED Triplet on mine and it's one heavy scope. It weighs in at 10Kg and I think your C9.25 is 9kg so I would say you are fine, it will actually be better then my refractor as your tube is short. I find that the wind does blow the refractor about a bit. The vibrations dampen down in about 2 seconds.

It looks nice and it's very easy to put together and take down, you can do it in just a few minutes so great for a grab and go set up.

The tripod is a simple affair but is well made and very strong, I would have liked it to come with a spreader bar and tray but it didn't.

It has engraved degree circles which are moved by undoing a stupid 4-40 thread screw so small you need a 0.050" allen key to undo. I'm going to get some thumbscrews for the job when I find some. I have yet to test these circles out but I have read that they are pretty accurate.

All in all I nice piece of kit for the money.
