Err I wasnt talking about sunspot counts Phil,

my point was the frequency of consecutive cleardays in my log, the fact that I was doing counts at the time has nothing to do with it except thats where I was recording the weather. I didnt mention spot numbers at all

OK, perhaps I didn't make myself clear, so sorry for any misunderstanding. The point I was making that it is possible to see sunspots on days that are not clear.

Think the last night which clear was for the lunar eclipse. And the odd time early morning. I think October always seems grey and gloomy.

must say we have had quite a few in Derby and Long Eaton just lately. Not all night though I admit.

We were very lucky on the 27th 28th September good clear sky in Mountsorrel, a few good day's at the beginning of October.
