I'm no expert but reckon it probably is comets rather than anything extraterrestrial, but I like the possibility and it's something that we as a civilisation have spent billions looking for. The idea of a Dyson sphere isn't so far fetched, were only a couple of hundred years from doing something like this ourselves even though I guess it will be a lot longer before we could even think about visiting another system.
