Mercury and Venus revisited

I remember that one well. I was at my old house.

Although Mercury was not (to me) visible to the naked eye,

they were close enough to be nicely framed together in my 15x50 binocs.

Quite a rare and notable conjunction. Don't think they've been as close together since.....?

I've added a couple more pics from June 26th 2005:

I think Jupiter and Venus have also come within half a degree of each other but I was never able to catch them on film, due to weather.

I did see Mercury with the unaided eye at the time but only because I knew exactly where to look.

Of course, these days, I'd do widefield with my DSLR then attach it to the telescope. I could have used a 2x Barlow lens with that set up if I could transport today's kit back in time.

As it was, I had my 127mm Mak but only a 3Mp compact digital camera.
