After reading up on this in S&T for November and continuing my quest using the Sissy Haas double stars for small telescopes I had a bash at this between clouds last night.


 


Sketched at the eyepiece but tarted up in PS

That's very nice Phil. Like the diffraction spikes with their little bit of colour very much. 

I been had a bit of a go at M38 last weekend with limited success. It's difficult to get the distances and angles right let alone the magnitudes. Fun though!

Cheers Alan, some like spikes others don't but my eyepiece sketch had them on to denote the brighter components so I left them in. Yeah it makes a change to do sketching, helps you to see the objects properly instead of just glancing and moving on to the next target
