November Meeting - 26th November - Dr Julian Onions - Galaxies

Recommended Posts

The next meeting for the Long Eaton Astronomical Society is on Thursday 26th November at the usual time of 6:30pm.

Our guest speaker is Dr Julian Onions of Nottingham University with his talk entitled "Galaxies - One Gigayear at a Time". Dr Onions says: "What are galaxies, how are they classified, how are they formed, what do we understand about their lives, and how many pretty pictures can I fit in one talk."

As always all are welcome, members free, visitors are welcome for a suggested donation of £2 towards the cost of refreshments etc. Refreshments will be available from 6:15pm. Fingers crossed for some clar sky and perhaps a chance for some observing.

A quick reminder this meeting is tomorrow.

Julian Onions got his PHD last week, so this will be his first public engagement as Dr Julian Onions! Julian is a great speaker and does like pretty pictures so I am sure there will be plenty of nice things to look at tomorrow. Fingers crossed this cloud shifts and there should be chance to do a spot of Lunar observing.
