My Workshop/Warm Room/Man Cave Build

Doc

Recommended Posts

Going to take a few days off now. I've really exhausted myself laying the floor.

There will be more when I recover ;)

You have done well Mick, you have also had the weather on your side for a change as well. Take it steady. :)

14 sheets of 8'x4' 12mm MDF arrived today and was laid in the centre of the workshop.

Four panels have been installed. A tried to leave a gap between sheets to I can fill them with filler and then sand down and paint. Should make for a nicer finish. Drilled a hole in each one and pulled the ring main through.

Will do some more tomorrow.

Wall papering next then Mick! ?

It's looking good!  ?

The best bit will be seeing your your machines in place, your bench and tools organised - ready to start your projects.

I guess your conservatory must be looking crowded at the moment! ?

Cheers!

Wall papering now that's an idea. No really I'm just going to fill the gaps with filler, a good sand down, prime all the MDF wih a proper MDF primer, and then paint roof and walls white.

Then finally some skirting painted white as well.

And yes the conservatory is a mess and the missus is moaning at me :dontknow:

Celotex insulating panels would do that Mick, easy to cut and fit. I ve used 1" thick ones in my obsy on the roof sections to stop any condensation, works a treat.

Over the weekend I've been putting up some more boards and have now completed the job.

Wired in the consumer box and tidied up.

Next job is to fill the gaps in with filler and sand everything down.

Do something with the doors, might need 9mm mdf instead of 12mm for that.

At the moment I'm sanding all the filler between the mdf down making everything is flat for painting.

That should be done today and then I'll prime and paint next week.

I'll take some photo's today once the sanding is done. To be honest this part has been the toughest, those boards weighed a ton and it knackered me sanding it all down.

Well it's now sanded and ready to prime and paint.

I put a board on the doors as I had nowhere to screw a bolt or latch type lock onto. I insulated it while I was doing it. Only need to seal the ends up with really thin wood.

Here's some more photo's.

Spent a few hours priming the walls.

I mixed dulux matt paint with some PVA glue. Painted the mdf walls, amazing how much it soaked in.

Tomorrow hopefully will give the ceiling a coat.
