Hi, I would certainly like one of these or similar. Anybody know a supplier This one looks like Philips See Pic.................Dave

I still have the small version (about 12" diameter) of that same Philips planisphere somewhere in my loft. I learnt my way around the sky with it as a child in the late 1960's.

 

I bet that big one was a one off, which may even have been auctioned with the contents of SPM's house.

 

If you really wanted one that big, you could make one with a bit of thought :)

I still have the Philips 12" version too ?

In the 'olden days' ? they were really useful... A step up from lugging a massive star chart...

Computers and software have improved on these a thousand fold...

But that is a great find... ?

Like you I could make one with a bit of thought,but with me it would still have a slight home made look about it. There is an Astronomy and Nature video on youtube (just type planisphere Astronomy & Nature) A large version of the 12 inch  Philips is featured there,but suspect it is a one off. The 12" version got me started as well............................Dave

 

Thats a good idea on the Poster Company though !
