Great shot. What did you use to take it?

Thanks , It was taken with a Canon 750d camera  in a old 10 inch f4.2 Newtonian reflector. http://www.astrobin.com/189349/

Not the best tool for the job but still fun , best attempt below. I will try to get better at deep sky stuff if the weather lets up! https://www.flickr.com/photos/139967546@N07/with/25265097493/

Did you use a Barlow and prime focus or afocal?

Strangely enough, I usually find afocal is better with a compact digital camera than DSLR.

I really need to get round to doing proper Jupiter shots and I'm not sure whether to use a webcam or 2 Barlow lenses in tandem with a DSLR.

1066mm of Prime focus the 24mb pic is cropped to home in on the subject but is  showing actual pixel size , to use my barlow which is x2.25 it would have been a little to close to get it all in and I would need a full frame camera!

I tried holding dlsr afocal for the moon and jupiter but it was worse for the shaking and my telescope gave less detail. my best afocal with phone were http://www.astrobin.com/203465/ and  http://www.astrobin.com/228033/

but prime is better http://www.astrobin.com/full/242120/0/?real=&mod=

Webcam or dslr? the collected image stays the same size on the same telescope covering more of a smaller chip but a decent webcam should have a higher frame rate although my 50fps is not too shabby you need a long fl telescope to do it proper so for me  its just for a bit of fun now.
