I joined the Mansfield & Sutton Astronomical Society last March and I also attended their Night Sky course for beginners which was excellent. As a beginner the first question that I had was which telescope to start off with. I thought that would be easily to answer! A friend of mine, and a well seasoned stargazer, kindly loaned me his 150mm refractor on an equitorial mount for the summer. I've since acquired a push to Orion 300mm Dob from Telescope House some Helios 20 x 80 bins from eBay. I look forward to spending some time here at EMS. I remember it took three months of research before making that decision - not as easy as I had hoped. But it was a great intro to the hobby.
