 Thanks Mike. If the image is bright in your ED80 will be to bright if using a ST120?

I would say bright but not too bright for safety. With a polarising filter you will be fine. It will just be brighter than you might like without. The Herschel wedges are safe upto about 6 inch scopes. If you are concerned leave the big cap on and use the smaller aperture.

I use a HW with my WO FLT132 refractor Tony.

No concerns with heat build up etc. The wedge gets a little warm, but nothing more.

The view is a little bright with 'just' the ND 3.0 filter. I usually add one of the others (0.9 ND?)  to dim it a bit more if required.

Another Herschel Wedge user, I use it with the Skywatcher 120ED Esprit and it's a wonderful combination.

Cheers Mick.  You never know I might dirty myself and get a CCD to take photos....only joking ...I think, lol

if I get a wedge will do a little report on it
