July 21st - Solar Astronomy - Stonehenge to SDO

Recommended Posts

The next meeting is on this Thursday the 21st July at the usual time of 7pm. This month I will be joined by Steve Ibbotson of Astrosphere to give a talk about the history of Solar Astronomy. Starting at Stonehenge and going through to SDO and beyond.

Refreshments available from 6:30pm with Solar observing before the talk if the weather permits. As always all are welcome, members free and visitors for a suggested donation of £2. Under 16's welcome if accompanied by an adult.

There will not be a meeting in August so we return on Sept 29th with a talk from a real rocket scientist Richard Parker who is the Chief Design Engineer at Reaction Engines who are working on the SABRE project right here in the UK. Reaction engines have been in the news this week after securing £60m of funding from ESA and the UK Space Agency to push forward their research and development.
