finally all welded up ,mate got the use of a friend's engineering premises to use the welder , all it cost is going to be a case of beer :2thumbsup:

Looks a great job.  What's the fins for? to give the pipe tube and flange end, extra strength from forces pushing the tube sideways and stressing the welded flange?  Do you intend to bolt that to the ground?

Fins are just supports ,just wanted them to look pretty with a bit of shape rather than straight lines ,probably over engineered , yes will be bolted down there should be a picture of base on an earlier post of this thread

Turns out my mate is a welder by trade ,currently doing electrical engineering ,should have guessed by the speed he did it super quick ,he`s a plasterer also ,man of many talents

Update , after a bit of fettling pier adapter now fits mount , hole drilled in tube to allow for electrics , drain holes drilled in base x3 to allow water to escape , tube rubbed down degreased now ready for Powder coating hopefully getting dropped off Tuesday ?

Just need to replace the lounge ceiling with a dome. :)

yes :2thumbsup: its took quite a while simmering on the back burner mick ,what with doing the driveway taking up my time at weekends but now its powder coated and ready to bolt down ,still electrics to sort via a trench, still to be dug, nearly at the finishing line ,powder coating looks good hides quite a few blemishes on tube will have a better look in daylight
