Howie was an astro pioneer, who made collimation tools for amateurs the world over. I think his aim was to make Newtonian collimation easy to understand, and to perform with easy to use precision tools and he succeeded totally. I have one of his lasers and 'blugs' and they are just beautifully made, a pleasure to use. I actually enjoy the collimation process now, rather than being scared of it.
