I went looking for a 2X Barlow online.

Now I did not want anything fancy just a reasonable example that I could stick into this tracking scope i am creating.

I came across this on Amazon.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B014PJCPBS/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Check out the bottom photo in the sales blurb.

Pretty good I thought.

Couple of thumb screws and a brass compression ring.

Without delay I purchased one.

Delivered next day to one of their lockers so I collected it on my way home from work.

What I found when I opened the box was something totally substandard  and completely different to what was being advertised.

Gone were the 2 thumb screws and the compression ring.

In their place was some grotty single thumb screw which has a razor sharp end - perfect for damaging any eyepiece or camera you put in it.

I complained only to receive an email from the vendors exclaiming their total surprise  and a request for me to send photos of the received item.

This I have done.

That was the last contact I have had from them despite numerous emails.

I am now passing this over to Trading Standards.

So beware of this bunch of **********

Solomark are as bent as a nine bob note to quote an expression from my youth.

You have been warned.

It did look like a bargain from the original description.

Never heard of them before, but will watch out for and steer clear of them, cheers Graham.

Like you I tend to check out all the details and photos etc before deciding to buy, and the photos are clearly misleading! Thanks for the heads up!?

Hopefully as we Astro nuts are quite a close community, word will get around quickly so these cowboys can be duly avoided.

Can we share this sort of thing to SGL etc...?

Misleading is the understatement of the year.

Please do.

Share it on every forum you can.

This is the one time I wish I was on Facebook and the likes.

Lets put paid to these shysters before they can afflict our small community.

I am not worried just really peed off companies still think they can get away with stunts like this.

Update.

Amazon are refunding my money but more importantly they are going to check out my claim once they have received this pile of c**p back and when satisfied what I have been saying is correct this company will be removed from Amazon.

That I will believe when I see it but I live in hope.
