i have a 240v adapter for my canon 100d/500d i would like if possible to do away with the 240 plug can you get an adapter that runs off a 12v cigatette socket/plug ,ideally i would like to run as much off 12v for the pier reducing number of 240v sockets to a minimum ,im going to have a box fitted to pier so ideally need to keep it compact and waterproof ,mount power can be run from 12v , usb hub can`t loose due to power plug adapter, just thinking what my options are .

Ex-Pro® Canon LP-E5 DR-E5 On-The-Move 7600mAh Rechargeable Battery Power System replacing Battery - use one for one Canon 100d - caveat have had som odd things like saying low charge when plugged in but ran for 2hrs plus.

If I was confident enough not to blow up my Canon 100d I would simply use one of these

I like first option ,second option way over my head ,the one from aliexpress looks simpler for a tenner part of the Alibaba group

You could run on of these direct from your 12 supply using the lead from your mains adaptor.

So would i cut off the 240v transformer and plug graham and put this between 12v source and the lead that has dummy battery on  graham ,electronics never been a strong point for me

Would  9v not mean a  fried Canon camera  Graham- i use these (3yrs) but not for my canon camera just to supply my ZWO camera with 5v  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Duble-USB-Output-Power-Adapter-12V-To-5V-3A-15W-DC-DC-Converter-Module-Connector-/262433315650?hash=item3d1a3e9b42:g:-V8AAOSwubRXNFeP

also make a 7.5v version but dont know is 7.5v (canon suppllies 7.4v)would cook Canon DSLR:unsure:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-12V-Step-down-to-7-5V-3A-Industry-Grade-Waterproof-Converter-Regulator-power-/322641187947?epid=861071403&hash=item4b1ee9d46b:g:mbYAAOSwNSxVJ8rz not sure how "fragile" the power regulator is in the canon especially as bateries are never exactly X.Xv

Astronomiser used to supply 12v to canon dc-dc converter and dummy battery adapter not sure if Andy is still doing that at the moment.

The large cap battery does mean no dangling wires just from battery to camera.

Not sure what voltage your canon is you would have to check first and get a unit to suit.

I used one of these sort of units on my old 350D as they use an 8.4 volt battery.

As Stash says use an inline fuse.

I used a 3amp fuse in mine.

It worked fine all the time I used the 350

Bought one of the these and used the mains adapter case, lead and battery adapter and found a cigarette lighter plug and lead. Set output to 7.4V but it climbed to 7.6V with no ill effect to camera.

Cut hole in lid, covered with red film to read displayed voltage

I have ordered the USB lead version off of ebay ,only for the fact i can run off my Hub and also i didn't want to chop up the 240v version just yet ,so i will be the guinea pig on this usb version i will get my work mate to check voltage output before using just to be on the safe side
