Ha is good for stabilising atmospherics if conditions are a bit wobbly. I use a visual Ha sometimes to stabilise and also bring out contrast. Nice image

Does it work for planets as well.

You know Graham, daft as it sounds I have never tried it on planets. I reckon with a big enough scope on Jupiter you would get something, very dark filters these, make sure it's the wider band Ha though. Can't remember the bandwidth 12 maybe?
