Very nice. Looks like you are going to pull out the extremely faint outer regions with more data.

Thats a great start.

Puzzled as to why you don't stack in Maxim though.

Thanks. That's mainly as I've never tried it

you have to try it Mike.

so much easier and better than DSS.

Steve told me how to do it ages ago and I have never looked back

Steve has kindly offered to go through it with me in a couple of weeks so I might be converted yet :)

After struggling with guiding the other night I have swapped to PHD2 and had a quick 30mins of O3 data tonight. Stacked those badly on Maxim, then spun them all through photoshop with a 5 min sub in S2 from the other week just to see what I've got so far.

Cropped a lot to avoid the bad bits due to incorrect alignment and lack of calibration. It's just a quick test to see how it's coming along.

I think it has lost a bit of fine detail from the previous version.

Yes I agree. I need to have a good look at the processing. I think I need to look at both the alignment and levels of each channel. I am hoping for a couple of hours tonight so I can do the last channel which is a little different to the norm. It's a technique I saw the ESO using and it has a very nice hue to it. I've not seen it done here before so I'm keen to give it a bash.

Will see if this will upload correctly....

I'm backing away from this target now for a while, I have bigger fish to fry.

Combination of Ha, OIII and SII all with Atik 314L+ and ED80

some calibration frames and stacked in Maxim apart from the SII which would only stack in DSS.

It was yes. I did have another plan but that went south due to incompetence on my part. I may well re visit the processing but for this year I am going to leave data gathering alone and go for something else now I have figured how to use the rig reliably.

That's a cracking image.

Strange that the sii would not stack in maxim.

What issue did you have with it.

It just goes to demonstrate what I've always thought: Getting really REALLY good deep sky images is more than just having expensive equipment. I'm really impressed with these images.
