SH2 157 in Hubble pallet

Graham

Recommended Posts

Managed to grab another three hours on this tonight before the clouds moved in.

Now stands at 21 hours in HA, OIII and SII

Managed to beat this it into a sort of Hubble type pallet.

Might be nearly time to put this one to bed and move on to another target.

Looking good there Graham ! Know what you mean about getting as much data as you can and then saying after many hours processing etc that’s enough ?

Cracking piece of work, lot of time and effort... but a great result! ?

I had not heard of this one, so I was wondering... (a few dumb questions ...)

This seems a very obscure object to pick Graham, with so many objects to pick from, (e.g. the bubble neb is approx 1 degree from SH2-157), what inspired you to choose this object?

If you had the right conditions, and the right object, just how much data would you be prepared to capture (in hours)?

We look and marvel at your work, and everyone else’s on this forum, there are some amazing images and they get better... Are you personally ever ever totally chuffed with the end results?

Keep em coming! Cheers! ?

Thanks folks but please hold your horses on this one.

Do not quite know what is going on here but that image is absolutely appalling.

For some reason it has been distorted , the colours have exploded into a garish mess and it looks completely over exposed.

I will look into this and load up a proper one.

Stephen

I love the obscure and little known stuff.

If I had the right conditions and the right object ??? there would be no time limit.

30 hours plus per channel would be a good starting point at a rough guess.

The answer to your last question is no.

I am never satisfied with the result mainly because I am crap at the processing part.

I simply do not have the patience or knowledge to do the images I take real justice.

More practise and more instruction is definitely needed.

You could be right Stephen  more data.

What I really need is to be able to upload the TIFF image.

I think converting it to JPEG is killing it.

More than happy to upload the three stacked data tiffs onto dropbox if anyone cares to have a play with them.

Looks a lot to me like you have killed the data by clipping most of it out at the blackpoint. The histogram has no space at all at the bottom end.
