i have just ordered a cable from FLO https://www.firstlightoptics.com/astronomy-cables-leads-accessories/lynx-astro-silicone-power-cable-for-sky-watcher-az-eq5-az-eq6-eq6-r-mounts.html

so i want to do the power mod can i completley detatch the white plate from the mount ,i was thinking of taking it to a mate and obviously rather not have to lug the head as well

also what wires are pin 1&2 or will i need to wait for cable and unscrew to check whats pos and neg or is pin1 a standard colour ie NEG or vice versa  .

Yes you can.

Undo the 4 screws and very gently lift the plate.

It will not come out very far as all the wires will be connected to it.

It may also need a bit of gentle twisting as it is a tight fit on the circuit board and the hole in the casing.

Once you have got the circuit board clear you can unplug the wires and remove the whole thing.

Centre pin on the cigar plug should be pos.

Plug the lead into the new power socket and use a multi-metre / circuit tester  to find the pos pin on the socket before soldering up your wires.

Power wires inside the mount are colour coded RED and Black
