book recommendation

looking to buy a book ,xmas present from Mrs B ,quick look on FLO seen these two https://www.firstlightoptics.com/books/the-night-sky-observers-guide-volumes-1-2-and-3-book.html probably go for vol 2 or https://www.firstlightoptics.com/books/the-year-round-messier-marathon-field-guide-with-complete-maps-charts-and-tips-to-guide-you-to-enjoying-the-most-famous-list-of-deep-sky-objects-book.html one or the other what do you think ,

I have the Night sky Observers Guides, you will need Vols 1 & 2, as they cover certain constellations and as I found, it's annoying when you go to refer to a neighbouring constellation and it's in the other volume. That said, they are very detailed and cover a vast amount of objects way past the limit of my self and my scope.

 Thanks Yes if i was going for vol2 first then will get vol1 later

I did the same thing, but due to the time of year got vol1 first. Superb observing guides.
