A quick M78 with the Tak 150 in New Mexico. This was supposed to be a 30 minute run on the OSC camera but weather intervened and I only got half that. Still it was only meant as a look around, I dont think I have ever imaged this before

Visually when I see those two bright stars staring at me I know I'm on it, cannot always see it but I know I'm looking at it. Nice image Phil

Ive only ever glimpsed it in my old C11 on occasions, Yeah the 2 stars are very distinctive. Never really tried it in my refractors though, its an object that I often forget. I think I got an image of it about 6 years ago but that was interrupted by weather also.

Lovely image Phil.

I first saw both of the nebulae in a Charles Frank 4" reflector many years ago before the term "light pollution" ever got used and when my dark adapted pupils were larger.

One of the targets that seem to get the better of me , weather , poor focus, bad guiding whatever can go wrong does on this object.

Keep at it Phil

Theres no guarantee for good weather even when using remote areas to image from like this. This is a great set up plus location but I seem to be jinxed with either bad weather or some gremlin gets to the guiding or focus and I end up with 2 or 3 use able subs andgetting a refund on the bad subs. Still I reckon it's a worthwhile subject so I may have another bash
