I last visited Barnett Observatory in the early 1970's. I'm sure I actually spoke to Horace Barnett himself.

When passing I have driven into Hastings Close just to see the Obsy from the outside on a few occasions since then.

Might just pop in on Saturday evening to bring back a few memories. :)

Wow. I'm fairly recent, so never met Horace. I've attached a picture of him using the 18 inch in 1960. It's still a formidable scope.. and we have several others.

Pete, it would be great to see you there, I'm Dave Frost by the way, not sure whether I've met you at Kelling or other meets. I'll be operating one of the smaller scopes.

Cheers Dave. That's a nice old black and white pic.

Didn't need TeleVue quality eyepieces to get good views through that longer ratio tackle, just ladders. ;)

Just three night to go. Hoping for clear skies, got a surprisingly clear night hear last night, even with a poor forecast. Forecast not brilliant, but the scope is still a great piece of kit to have a look at. Love to meet (or re-meet!!) any of you who come along. And if it's cloudy retiring to the Nags Heas a few hundred yards away can always be recommended.
