My my, i would love that.

I couldn't hide that though at home though, no way, and i'd be in  for some serious grief (and worse) from the other half once she got wind of it.

I could always say my often used answer though........."its a society scope, and i've been delegated to look after it"   !!

I thought long and hard about a 16" F5 from David L a couple of years ago, but it would have been a ladder job with a 2m focal length.

I bet it will sell quickly.

£3.5k is a very good price.

A 20" mirror of that quality and at that focal ratio is a feat of engineering in itself, and worth £3.5k on its own

The Primary on its own would weigh in the region of 25kgs.......

But it has wheels and is perhaps more manoeuvrable than you may think.....

Collimation would be a breeze.

And i'm pretty sure DL scopes are better built than OO VX scopes.

At Kelling the other year, Liverpool astro soc. had built their own 30" f3.3, that was short enough not to need a step, let alone a ladder. They did struggle to collimate that though.

I remember that 30" Baz cos we were camped 4 pitches away from it on yellow field. They struggled to collimate it cos they'd left a critical adaptor at home. It was an essential metal ring for attaching the top box, and for which they had to improvise some kinda workaround.

They make some nice scopes that lot, even grind all their own mirrors. They are a nice bunch as well, always up for a natter.

Yep it’s some scope!

Looks like it’s got everyone drooling Kim.

I spotted it a couple of days ago and emailed the ad to an Astro mate who’s looking for a large Dob... he drooled too, and reluctantly backed away from it ☺️...

Did he say why he backed off from it? Was there a problem with the scope or was it a budgetary consideration? lol

Cannot see that the mirror box would be strong enough to fix a dove tail bar to.

These are proper shaving mirrors! You can't do witchcraft with these. :D

He would love it, he too knows the people at DL... it’s budgetary... basically his missus would kill him, bargain or not! ??
