Tracking the ISS

I've just been following the ISS on Sky Safari, and been surprised at how fast it moves.

What types of mount would be best for following it - Alt/Az or Equatorial?  And do satellites move so fast you can't follow them with a goto scope anyway?

You can track them with a goto but things move at an alarming rate of knots.

I use a sat tracking program and a fork mounted meade.

Tracked it once by hand with the dob, it was a bit wobbly but managed to keep track of it for 20 seconds or so.

I tracked it with my refractor on the manual alt-az DM6 last year.

I followed it for 30 secs or so either side of losing it as it went overhead.

Stick to around 100x and there is a fascinating amount of detail to see.

Its tricky though, as it certainly shifts.
