Hi Guys

I am wanting to get into Astro imaging through my Skywatcher 200P .

I will be imaging using an unmodded Canon 450D.

I was considering purchasing Backyardeos to help me principally to achieve the best focus.

Do any of you knowledgable guys have any views on this piece of software and its usefullness?

thanks

Graham

Graham.

BYE is the best thing ever invented for astro work with a Canon.

Absolutely worth every penny and more.

Would not use anything else when using my canon.

Thanks for that Graham. How does it compare to Astro Photography Tool (APT)?

Go for it :)

May also be worth picking up a bahtinov mask for focusing. It's a very useful tool

No idea on that one.

Had a look at APT a couple of years ago and got so confused by it I didn't bother.

I use APT and quite like it .

I did prefer the early versions as it was only for DSLR's but it has been added to over the years - good for some but i prefered the DSLR only.

I use APT and like it too. BYEOS was a pain payment wise, I gave up after 3 tries to resurrect it!! Like APT much better and FREEEEE!!

+1 forAPT ,have never used BYeos , apt has some good tools in the box ,and the bahtinov aid is great , platesolving ,can use tours  generated from DSO browser , continually being updated, worth a look .https://ideiki.com/astro/Default.aspx

That looks even more complicated than I remember

It’s as complicated as you want it Graham , I usually set it to do how many subs, darks lights etc And press the button, but there are tools there if you want to use them ?
