V362 in Perseus goes supernova

Recommended Posts

V392 in Persueus has gone supernova according to the BAA. It's usually mag 14-17 and is at present mag 7 but fading. Apparently this is the first time it's happened to this type of star.

From its faintest magnitude of 17, it brightened over 10000 times.

Whichever way you look at it, that is some colossal explosion. ?
