Loved that Mike.

How far away from the launch site was it when it was recovered ?

That is fabulous to watch Mike. ?

Inspirational to know that this was all done by a local school, and not some international space agency. ??

The balloon was found on Friday morning by a farmer just south of buxton. The black box and GoPro failed, I suspect from prolonged exposure to the moisture of very thick cloud cover and cold. The whole thing should have been done and back on the ground by around 11.40am. At 11.30am, when the black box gave up it's fight, it was still climbing. A conservative estimate is that it achieved 40km but my hunch, given models landing near buxton, is that it reached 45km. Our target was to break 30km thus leaving the stratosphere.

Mind boggling to think that at 40km it would have taken a little over an hour to fall back to earth on it's parachute!
