I didn't want to venture too far from home, so the nearest suitable location for me was the reservoir less than 10 minutes down the road. Sadly for me, I didn't factor for a bright orange beacon of light emanating from the Dam in the distance, right in my FOV. So i did my best to shield most of it behind the trees in the foreground. Ultimately overall LP was far worse than I was expecting, contrary to Light Pollution map's opinion. Baader BCF Modded Canon 1100D Skytech CLS filter Samyang 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer 60 Lights 20 Darks 122 Bias 71 Flats Sky region stacked with Sequator DSS, processed in Startools and together with the separate static foreground, finished with Gimp Paint.NET. We have had twilight all night recently so it doesn't really get dark, which just makes your image even more impressive. Also it is nice to see landscape and the reservoir in view. ? 8472 Posted May 22, 2018 Author Share Posted May 22, 2018 Thanks folks. The thought did momentarily cross my mind of "should I bother?" after I arrived and took a look up at the sky at 12:45am. Glad I did, of course, after the fact. ISO and sub length was 1600 and 60 seconds, Dave. Any longer blew out the exposure on the histogram, sadly. I packed up around 3:30ish or there abouts.
