Devon sun and stars

Having a great time on holiday in Devon near Hartland Heritage coast and dark sky area in this Spanish weather. ?

I imaged Jupiter from the garden last night, but don't zoom in as it looks like a comet. ?

Had a virtually tame peacock come to share breakfast with us in the back yard this morning.

Lovely place to relax in the sunshine. ?

Looks like a great place to be.

A heat wave to boot as well

Nothing wrong with your sense of timing

Looks nice : is the Milky way visible from there Pete ?

I'm possibly heading out that way towards the end of August for a few days, maybe a week.

Oh yes! Milky Way was just visible from the garden here. Would have seen more of it if I could have switched off the bright patio wall light. The damn thing has a waterproof switch just below it, but it wouldn't switch it off! I have a screwdriver on my pocket knife so I can get the bulb out. ?

Looking at the dark sky map, this area has substantially less light pollution than Belper dark site.

Tonight I intend to drive about 3 miles away to an even darker spot. ?

Who needs Spain when we have this weather here. Car was showing 33c as we drove into Bude this afternoon.  ?

Feels like Spain right now Steve. Glowing from slightly too much sun and a wee dram of alcohol, half way through a nailbiting Clive Cussler novel and struggling to stay cool, yet well chilled. ?
