If we are going to colonise another planet then Mars is by far the best choice.  But while Mars is the closest to Earth in its conditions and suitability, it is currently not particularly welcoming.  I will talk about the advantages and challenges of colonising Mars, and discuss various plans for ‘terraforming’ Mars to make it more habitable – are these plans reasonable, or pure science fiction?
