I asked a question on SGL to do with dithering, I was trying to find out the dither scale in phd2 for my canon 1000D , a chap has commented and explained the formula so you can work out the correct setting for your setup all explained here https://stargazerslounge.com/topic/323915-dithering-with-1000d-scale-setting/?tab=comments#comment-3529850 hopefully may be of use to others as dithering does away the need for darks saving valuable time , APT  lets you dither  backyardeos  amongst others too .

Lols ? I read to not go for any more than  needed to keep the value at its lowest , so I had a 12 for my setup but the actual value was 10 for the 200pds and 6 for the 127mm mak  first time I had come across the formula explained to work out the value needed which depends on DSLR, guide camera and focal length your using   .

I must confess, i had to ask El goog what exactly 'Dithering' was all about....

Why does astro imaging need to be so complicated...?

My sentiments entirely. Point and click, no dithering about, job done. ?
