Can you recommend any particular handset?

As graham said you don’t have too but can be beneficial, I have a wired handset from Argos just a cheap one, just remember to plug your usb devices into the same ports every time saves a lot of time , ask me how I know ?

You have lost me there.

USB hub at the mount?

Do i have one on an EQ5Pro mount?

The one end of this cable has a USB which i assume goes to my laptop and i assumed that the opposite end of the cable went to the hand controller port on the EQ5 synscan

If I’m correct , plug Eqmod cable into pc other end plugs into mount you can I believe plug into handset I don’t have your mount so not sure if your mount has the rj45 socket if not then yes into handset

I may be wrong but I think you plug eqdirect cable into port that handset plugs into by looking at photo of your mount graham

Hi David

I have checked with FLO and yes it does plug into the port which the handset would have plugged into

It's not just you Graham. All this stuff is probably even newer to me than it is to you. I need it spoon feeding piece by piece. Finding this thread very useful. ??

Just had a look on Argos and they have several, so looking forward to getting the one you recommend Graham. Like to get rid of cables. ?

Do not under any circumstances try and plug an eqdirect cable into the handset of any mount .

The only cable that uses the handset as part of a computer controlled set up is an old fashioned serial cable.

Thanks Graham , I have just reserved one at my local Argos.

I assume that you have had no problems with it ?

Do you have to program it for EQMOD purposes?

You programme it in eqmod.

Press the expand tab which is a row of arrows >>>>>

You will find the game pad tab on the far right at the bottom.

The one function I recommend you disable is the emergency stop.

If you accidentally press this in the dark you will have to reboot your computer and start all over.

The only buttons I have activated on mine are the direction buttons.

Thanks David, that diagram is very useful, but it would also be good to see an actual photo showing the whole shebang. That goes to you and @Graham and anyone else who could put up a pic of their AP setup.
