Guiding woes again

Set up last night balanced mount so scopes on east side and weight  over balanced forcing scope to rise , scope is balanced so camera end heavy , all clutches Engadged  tracking in sidereal   sharpcap PA, said excellent focused camera  with autofocus  Apt finding ? spot on with go-to++ , no wires trailing or snagging , phd2 started picked a star cleared data , redo calibration so off it goes calibrating , for the life of me I couldn’t get it past calibrating West 61 steps,  Ra Calibration Failed Star Did Not Move Enough ,  also tried phd failed too , tried altering step settings , tried guiding wizard that failed same error. Maybe it was one of those nights just to test my resilience any ideas to try next time anyone?

I had the same problems using PHD2 when it first came out.. Solved by using PHD 1.44 for the last 2 years without any problem unless it wasn't balanced properly!

First off.

Your's is a belt modded mount.

There should be no imbalance when setting up.

You only need to off set the balance when you mount has gears.

If it reached 61 then I would suggest that you were on a hot pixel not a star.

Were you trying to calibrate up around polaris.

Have you tried adjusting the calibration step size? Accessed through the brain icon. Should only need about 10 steps. It worked for me so hope this helps.

Even if it was pretty far out on the balance an eq6 should still manage your rig.

I am with Ron on which version of PhD to use.

Tried phd2 for all of half an hour then went back to one and stayed with it.

Still think you were trying to use a hot pixel

What settings are you running for pulse guiding in eqmod.

Expand the eqmod control screen by clicking on the >>>> tab.

Top right you will see the settings.

I used to run my 6 on 50 in RA and 70 in DEC.
