Tweedledee Posted November 14, 2018 Share Posted November 14, 2018 I'm thinking of buying an Explore Scientific ED80CF 80mm f/6 apo triplet refractor, and have an opportunity to get one at a reasonable price second hand. I have read conflicting reports about the virtues of carbon fibre tube compared to aluminium tubes used for AP. Can anyone provide any thoughts on this to help me decide whether to buy? I remember seeing a CN post a while back about some problem with the carbon fibre on this model not being as stable under temperature changes as aluminium.
