I know it’s a bit early but I thought I’d put up a post for meet for the Quadrantid meteor shower and observing  on the night of the Thursday  3rd of jan 2019 at the Belper site, weather permitting.

Also be a good chance for all those who get new Astro gear for Xmas.

Rob(newtyng5) and myself will be taking our scopes up.

I'll join you, assuming the weather permits.  Meantime, happy reindeer-spotting.

It's a bit far for me but I have been planning to set a camera trap even if I don't go out.

Bad weather and a cold ruined my planned attempt at the Ursids.

I’m a new member but would love to come along if a few of you are still going.

Quick question - will I be fine with a set of 15x70 binoculars? I’m still a bit slow setting up my scope and mount in the dark :)

You'll be very welcome.  I'm bringing my big bins as well as my scope.   We're usually down at the bottom (far) end of the camping field, maybe next to the yurts to get some shelter from the wind.

I'll probably be there from about 7 pm onwards.

Admins: can somebody contact Sharon to tell her we're coming, please?  Thanks.

Not sure if I am going yet. The weather looks like patchy cloud all night long and I’ve got a cold.

Hi all,

Before I contact Sharon, can i just check that some people are still going?

Im currently on call, Belper is too far to travel to work if I get called so I am unable to make it.

So it somebody can confirm if they are still going then I will make arrangments for the site to be open.

Regards,

Daz.

Yes, I'll still give it a go.  It doesn't look too promising at the moment but Meteoblue and Clear Outside are still optimistic.  Wirksworth webcams show thinning cloud.

Hi there, I will not be able to make it. The weather looks a bit patchy, but hopefully it's gonna clear up for Bryand and Barry.

I may struggle now as it looks like I'll be quite late at work.  Apologies for the late notice.
