Had to raise the iso from 100 at the start to 800 at the end.

I'm glad you had a good view of it Graham.

 

The last one i saw was on 29 Sept 2015.

It was pretty special ; i remember being amazed by how many stars there were visible during totality.

That was the night i spotted M1 in a pair of 15x50 binocs during a full moon.

We were at Belper dark site though.

 

In comparison, i can't even see M1 from home with a 12" Newtonian.

 

Another thing i'm wondering about...

I wonder if there are any images of a total solar eclipse by the Earth taken from the moon ?

I'm half expecting one of those Chinese Lunar rovers to have captured yesterdays event.

It would be interesting to see how well the Earth is illuminated by refracted light ?

Apparently, an eclipse event like this from the moon can last about 1hr and 30mins.
