6th July 2019 Monthly meet - Wymeswold - 19:30

Recommended Posts

Daz Type-R

All,

Placeholder for the July monthly meet.  Time and venue to be confirmed closer to the date.

This will be 4 days after a new moon but 3 days before a 12% crescent so should offer some good lunar views along the terminator.

More info to follow.

Hi all,

Yes should still be on.  I cannot make this one so just double checking with Andy that he is still OK to open up.

Will have to be a WW as the Belper site will be rammed with campers on Saturday night.

Once Andy confirms he is still good to go i will amend the title and post another reminder.

Sorry Steve, were not meant to run any cables. Are you thinking of coming? I'll bring your Maxbrights for you if you are.

Enjoyed the evening.  Got a couple of quick views of Jupiter and the moon before the clouds rolled in. Having had a quick look at your moon atlas Andy I have just ordered one. Thanks for organising.

The shortest session i think i've ever had :

A 10 second look at Lunar, with my 15x50 binocs.

A 60 second look at Jupiter through the 300mm Newton through deteriorating cloud.

With the low power arm in the bino gave around 60x with my 24mm's, and i thought i could detect the GRS....

So i thought i'd up the power to 90x with the medium power setting, but lost it in the clouds as i was refocusing.

And that was it.....!!

Game over.

A one hour round trip for just over a minutes observing.

Would i do it again...?

Of course i would !! ?

Always a pleasure to see everyone, and have a chinwag over tea and cake.

Till the next session.....

Was a nice little get together, and I got to play a bit more with my binoviewers on the moon. And thanks to Sheila for dropping off the cake ?
