Lapping the RA Worm and Pinion gears.

First thing this morning I jury rigged a motor onto the RA drive.

Shot this video just to demonstrate the mount in action.

I will be using this set up to lap the worm and pinion gears together.

That is it all done.

8 hours of continuous grinding has left it smooth as the proverbial.

To give some indication of the difference, When I first fired it up this morning the motor was pulling 5 amps to turn it.

When I went down to switch it off just now the motor was pulling a tad over 1 amp.

 

Tomorrow it is the DEC's turn.
